Ariful Haque

Wiki Article

Ariful Haque has been around for ages and yet is still very much young in terms of age. The experience has made him a better player over the years although it took the Bangladesh Premier League to fast-track him into the national side. An aggressive all-rounder who can smash the ball around and hit huge sixes, Ariful made a massive statement during the 2017 BPL season which probably was the big break needed. His explosive batting skills aside, Ariful Haque is also a more than handy medium pacer and his all-round credentials can add immense balance for Bangladesh who have long yearned for a seam-bowling all-rounder. With veteran Shakib already giving them excellent depth, someone of Ariful's ability could be a boost, particularly in the shorter formats where he can be a dangerous commodity.

Ariful Haque came into prominence in the 2006-07 National Cricket League when he struck his maiden first-class century in his first year in the competition. But thereafter he spent several lean seasons, scoring his second century only nine years later. The same season, he also went on to get 478 runs in the Dhaka Premier League, in addition to 446 for Rangpur in the NCL.

His batting improved in the following four seasons, culminating in a short stint with Khulna Titans in the 2017 BPL. He made only 237 runs in 12 games but it had an impact on his team's progression into the last four.

Ariful Haquewas first called up to the Bangladesh T20I side in February 2018 and later found a place in the Asia Cup 2018 squad following Sabbir Rahman's suspension.
